What's Up - Sunday 11/22

I am leaving for vacation for a week on Saturday and there is only one church service this Sunday, which adds up to nothing on schedule for the Youth Group this weekend. Same goes for next weekend (I'll be back by then, but I figure many of you won't be). No Sunday School, Confirmaiton, or evening activities the next two weekends. Enjoy some family time and R&R time too.

The worship committee could really use some help setting up lunch after church this weekend and also staffing the nursery during the congregational meeting. If you (adults or youth) can help, please let me know and I'll pass your name along, or just offer some help on Sunday. It would be appreciated!

High School Ski Weekend

I've heard interest from a LOT of high schoolers about going to the ski weekend (see next post). Off the top of my head, five of our own high schoolers have talked to me about it and three friends were mentioned too.

I'm going to need to set a deadline to get us registered and to find a parent or two to accompany us (parents- LOM prefers that we bring at least one adult of each gender). How about DECEMBER 13th as a deadline to let me know for sure yes or no and how many friends? That way I can get the money in and get to work on it before I leave for Christmas break.

High School Ski Weekend at Lutherwald

Too old for the Middle School Toboggan Weekend but still want the fun? Outdoor ministries also sponsors a High School Ski Weekend!

This year's is January 8th-10th. We would leave RIGHT after school on Friday the 8th. There are a few activities on Friday night at Lutherwald, then we drive up to Michigan to spend all day Saturday skiing. Like the toboggan weekend, there are just a few activities Sunday morning before heading home (we usually get back around 3:00 or 4:00 as I recall).

This isn't an event that we've been to recently, but some of the newer high schoolers who enjoyed the toboggan trip in middle school have expressed some interest. If the interest (and availability) is out there, I'm happy to put it together. High Schoolers... let me know what you think.

Youth Group Record Holders

The bar has been raised and the standard has been set. Congratulations to all of the current St Thomas Youth group record holders who set the standard for years to come in five grueling tests of cunning and skill. Congrats to all of our record holders. I hope everyone had fun playing and looks forward to bettering these records next May.

We may consider expanding the competition next year, as I had a few more events planned that we didn't get to.

Hopefully being reminded of these records will inspire diligent training over the next year.
